Local Offer Live - January 31st
On Friday 31st January 2020 four students from Ash Field Academy attended ‘Local Offer Live’; an event to publicise SEND services available in Leicester/shire, over 70 providers were present and across the 6 hour event over 400 people came through the doors.
As part of our Careers and Enterprise offer pupils were given the opportunity for some work experience to develop their Work Ready skills. Pupils from both Green and Yellow Pathway attended the event and it was their job to assist in the running of the Ash Field Academy stall. Throughout the day the stall was visited by a variety of professionals, parents and young people with SEND, all hoping to gain knowledge and information about Ash Field Academy and what it has to offer children and young people with special educational needs and disability.
The pupils’ role was to speak to stall visitors, answer any questions and showcase the Ash Field offer. This included explanations and demonstrations of the assistive technology, sensory toys and other learning aids that were on display.
Brandon spoke to the stall visitors about his work experience on a Level one Automotive course at Gaz Autos in the city Centre and brought with him a project he had put together.
Haroon communicated with the public using his electronic communication device, which not only showcased his skills, it also gave people the opportunity to see ‘in action’ the Proloquo2go software. Rushang gained confidence as the morning progressed and was welcoming everyone to the stall with his big smile and Ria and Tyrell both answered a wide range of questions with assertiveness and professionalism.
