Children who are admitted to the school usually have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). As an Academy, places at Ash Field are ‘commissioned’ by the Local Authority. Leicester City, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire and Rutland currently ‘buy’ places with us. Sometimes a child may have a place at the school whilst an Education, Health and Care Plan is being prepared.
When we know a child is definitely coming to the school we will arrange to meet with parents so that we can find out about the child’s medical and care needs and get to know them a little before they start with us. It is important that parents complete our admissions booklet so that we have all the information that we need.
Sometimes, pupils may spend part of their school week at a mainstream school and part of their time at Ash Field. This can work well but it is important for parents to consider that it may be demanding for a child to work in two different settings. If a child has a ‘dual placement’ both of the schools will be named on their plan.
